Twenty years ago, my wife and I had a successful vacation in Alaska. She decided the only way to see the state was to live here. So up came the stakes and now we call Fairbanks, Alaska home, complete with moose in the backyard and 40 below temperatures in the winter.
For wildlife photography, Alaska is heaven. Bears, wolves, caribou, etc. are all present and, if you're patient, great shots can be had. The above photo was taken in McNeil River Bear Preserve.
My photos are taken with Canon cameras: 20-d, 50-d, 1ds MkIII, with "L" series lenses. Now that memory is affordable, most are taken in RAW format, so larger prints without loss of resolution are possible.
